Independently owned and operated, The Jefferson in Washington D.C. is currently recruiting for a Full-time Line Cook in the Culinary Department, an excellent employment opportunity for the truly exceptional candidate.
The position of Line Cook is responsible for the daily preparation of food items for the Restaurant, Banquet, Room Service, Bar/Lounge and Employee Cafeteria. A line cook must be knowledgeable of all basic cooking methods and follows recipes, portion controls and quality presentation specifications as set by the Chef; cleans and maintains station in practicing good safety, sanitation and organizational skills.

Past experience in recognized fine dining restaurants and /or luxury hotel restaurants. Cooking or vocational school, apprenticeship or proven 2 years experience in similar organization. Working knowledge and understanding of classical, traditional and modern cuisine, including recipes and techniques. Stable work history and references that indicate reliability. Excellent Communication Skills. Flexible demeanor with ability to focus on customer service for both external and internal guests. Able to meet the physical demands of this position with regard to walking, standing, bending, climbing, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 70 lbs. Ability to adapt easily to changing temperatures in the kitchen. Food handling courses and licenses desirable, but able to pass Food Handler Certification courses within ninety days of hire.
