Title: Dining Room & Culinary Chef Instructor/Assistant Professor - Tenure Track Position
Position Number: 462
Academic Calendar Year: 32 weeks (Fall & Winter Semesters)
4:15-9:15 Monday through Friday,
two 7-week classes per semester
Date Available: Fall 2014
Annual Salary Range: $52,991 (Master's Degree) plus $18,740 of an additional load of 10 contact hours each semester at the contractual overload rate of pay.

GRCC's Secchia Institute of Culinary Education (SICE) is an award winning culinary program that has been accredited by the ACF as an exemplary program for over 30 years. We were the first in Michigan and 4th in the nation to be certified. Our program accolades include best public post-secondary culinary program in the nation by National Restaurant Association, Best value by Chef Educators, Chef to Chef rated 6th in the nation. We are seeking a dynamic expert in fine dining to lead our evening service in our Heritage Restaurant.
Major Teaching Responsibilities:
-Teach a full range of advanced service skills in a 120-seat fine dining, open-to-the-public setting.
-Partner with SICE chefs to maintain high standards of food and beverage service commensurate with the GRCC's Heritage restaurant.
-Engage students in appropriate front-of-the-house protocol, etiquette, and behavior.
-Support procedures associated with sanitation regulations, responsible beverage service, and sustainability.
-Effectively assess, document, and advise students regarding their academic performance.
-Demonstrate a commitment to a learning centered environment in the classroom.
-Incorporate new technologies and methods for enhanced teaching and learning into instructional methods.
-Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree may be considered with the understanding that a Master's degree must be achieved prior to receiving tenure.
-Five years of industry experience as a manager, service expert, or hospitality trainer in fine dining establishments with documented responsibility for training and conducting the service experience and managing employees to succeed.
-Knowledge of wine and spirits and its service.
-Knowledge of tableside service techniques.
-Knowledge of industry applications for computer based software for POS systems, reservation systems, room and event management systems.
-Meet professionally recognized standards related to physical strength, mobility, hearing, visual discrimination, coordination, manual dexterity and communication skills.
-Ability to demonstrate the mental health necessary to safely engage in the discipline of Culinary as determined by professional standards of practice
