In the role of Team Leader Cook I, you will assist the Chef and Sous Chef in overseeing the Prepared Foods department. -Assisting Sous Chef in running the kitchen and managing employees by performing tasks essential to the proper functioning of the department including hiring & staffing, training & development, scheduling and ordering with Simplification practices in mind
-Delegating tasks to team members and empowering them to take on new challenges, being certain to provide timely feedback and annual performance reviews that focus on their growth and professional development
-Educating customers and employees on products in the department, making sure to share knowledge to offer complete meal solutions, suggest ways to prepare meal items and work across departments to eliminate knowledge barriers and exceed expectations
-Ensuring products are prepared with a consistent, high quality outcome by following Wegmans core recipes & cooking techniques and educating team members on these practices
-Maintaining the overall appearance of the department, ensuring products levels are sustained throughout the day and food is well-merchandised to showcase quality and increase sales
-Possessing a complete understanding of the Prepared Foods department and accurately forecasting department and customer needs when planning daily production lists and menus as well as scheduling employees
-Familiarizing self with products in inventory and seeking to reduce waste by working across Prepared Foods departments to find ways to utilize shrink
-Educating and ensuring team members are properly handling products, using equipment and keeping accurate logs in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines
