|Position Description:||The New England Culinary Institute is looking for a Chef Manager for our operations at National Life. The Chef Manager for National Life is responsible for representing New England Culinary Institute in the smooth daily operations of the dining and kitchen facilities with a focus on fresh, local, healthy and nutritious meals for our clients at National Life and our Meals on Wheels clients.|
-Develop and manage menus for varied clientele including Meals on Wheels, primary client and all National Life catered functions. Manages food costs to budget.
-Trains, develops and manages kitchen and service staff and manages costs to budget and scheduling. Manages annual performance reviews.
-Develop annual budgets and manages all food cost, labor and controllable expenses to budget.
-Participates in the interviewing, testing, and hiring of kitchen staff.
-Works with Vice President of Facilities for National Life to develop safety plans, maintenance and facility plans; nutritional planning; company programs including garden program.
-Manages in-house catering for all National Life properties , including Hopkins Guest House, Records Building, State Office on Campus; this includes all NL sponsored charitable programs.
-Maintains exceptionally high sanitation and safety standards that reflect positively on NECI and National Life.
-Works with chefs to ensure smooth and timely daily meal prep and service time.
-Responsible for covering classes as needed.
-Honor special requests from guests whenever possible, modeling for the students the appropriate behavior and the importance of satisfying our guests.
-Take initiative and work cooperatively with other team members to problem solve daily operational issues.
-Serves as a strong role model and promotes good front-of-house/back-of-house communication.
-Attend scheduled training sessions and meetings as assigned.
-Participate in assigned committees.
-Other duties as assigned.
Minimum AOS degree in Culinary Arts or related discipline, Bachelor's degree preferred. Detail oriented and self motivated chef with 5-10 years management experience. Must possess excellent written and verbal skills. Systems development experience necessary. Positive and flexible attitude with a professional demeanor and appearance. Interest in gardening a plus.
