StarChefs.com is looking for an Events Assistant to assist the Events and Editorial team with the International Chefs Congress (ICC) and its quarterly event, Rising Stars Revue. We are looking for someone who cares about the details, who is eager to be part of a team and who has an interest in the culinary world. The Event Assistant position will play a key role, working with high-profile chefs, making their experience an easy and successful one.
StarChefs.com 2012 International Chefs Congress (ICC) will take place September 29 ? October 2 in New York City. Touted of the most exciting professional culinary events in the US, ICC is a three-day culinary symposium where more than 140 of the world's most influential and innovative chefs, pastry chefs, mixologists, and sommeliers present the latest techniques and culinary concepts to their peers.
Description: We are looking for a dedicated, self-motivated, ambitious person with a great eye for detail, a keen sense of organization and great interpersonal skills.
The Event Assistant will coordinate the preparation of all chef presenter demonstrations and will oversee their execution on-site. In addition to working with the chef presenter, this position will work with the Marketing liaison, the Institute for Culinary Education (ICE) representative and the Events team at StarChefs. This position reports to the Events Manager and Features Editor.
Responsibilities include:
ICC ? Prepare and organize formal letters for all presenters ? Track all communication with presenters ? Work with Features Editor and Events Manager to ensure all information for presenters has been received including headshot and bios ? Record and track notes from all department meetings that include ? Communicate with presenters prior to the event to asses ingredient and equipment needs ? Assist Events Manager and Marketing department to ensure sponsored product placement in all demonstrations ? Coordinate with the Culinary Director to set up schedule including staffing and equipment timing ? Assist presenters with local, host kitchens ? Coordinate travel arrangements for out-of-state presenters ? Shop for last minute equipment and ingredients the week before ICC ? Produce packets for all presenters with event information prior to ICC ? At the event, be a point person and runner for presenters? logistical needs
Rising Stars ? Assist Events Manager to secure ingredients for Rising Star winners ? Coordinate delivery of marketing collateral ? Lead social media efforts to drive ticket sales
Qualifications: Prior event experience Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously Highly organized and detail-oriented Strong communication skills Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and e-mail) Interest in the culinary industry Ability to work as part of a team Culinary degree is preferred
