Position Description:
HAKKASAN, the renowned UK Michelin-starred restaurant is currently looking for talented back of house chefs:
Essential Functions:
-Manage and organize themselves and the activities of the kitchen to maintain the highest standards of food quality, cost control and consistency.
-Ensure that all items are ready for service.
-Follows and understands instructions to maximize completion of set work.
-Uses due diligence when handling food and food processes
-Listen and undertake all instructions made by senior members of staff
-Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to work effectively within the kitchen team.
-Ensure that you are suitably dressed or groomed, standards expected for an open kitchen.
-Ensure health and safety laws are followed at all times and sanitary conditions are maintained at the highest levels per the requirements of the Department of Health, the Department of Buildings and OSHA.
-Reports to the Executive Chef Team any maintenance or repairs needed.
-Ensures that all recipes are reviewed and processed correctly
-Prevents the spoiling and contamination of foods by enforcing proper sanitation practices and ensuring compliance with policy and health regulations.
-Inspects delivery of food to ensure the highest level of quality.
-Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to total quality efforts by striving for continual improvement.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EXPERIENCE 2-5 years of Chinese or Asian culinary experience a must!!
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection, NYS Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (preferred).
