Position Description:We are currently looking for a Sous Chef at our country inn and restaurant L'Auberge Provencale in the Shenandoah Valley, about 1 hour west of the DC beltway. We are looking for a chef who is creative and passionate about cooking. We are a farm to table style restaurant and we would like someone who would enjoy working with local farms and utilizing produce from our orchards and gardens.

The restaurant is highly rated in Zagat, has 4 diamonds and 3 1/2 stars from the Washingtonian Magazine. We are looking for a sous chef to work with the executive chef to create seasonal, fresh innovative cuisine with modern techniques and modern plating.

Experience in a top notch restaurant is a plus. The sous chef should be conscientious of food costs, inventory, seasonal offerings, and best and freshest ingredients. We like modern techniques with classical approach. We are looking for a team player who likes to be creative in all aspects of cooking.

Our goal at the inn is to remain in the top restaurants of the greater Washington area. We are looking for a long term team player with a pleasant, positive approach to the job. At this time it is a 6 night position, but will evolve into a five night position off season. We do occasional small weddings and conferences, as well as have breakfast for our guests. We have a breakfast cook, but the sous chef will be involved in planning menus for breakfast as well as for dinner. We love a positive working environment for all of our employees and want someone who is able to work well with others.

The sous chef should have knowledgeable of all modern cooking and have a passion for striving to be cutting edge. Sous vide knowledge and some molecular is used in our classical approach to cooking. We change our menus seasonal and whimsically depending on the best products available. Experience in high end restaurants is a plus.

We are located in an area with a lower cost of living than the metro areas, near a town of around 65,000 people, Winchester. Good schools and country living! If you enjoy outdoor activities this is the place.
