Food Service Director

Position Description:Food Service Director

Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County is currently hiring a compassionate dependable Food Services Director with problem solving skills to work with staff and residents. This position is long term with excellent benefits. Candidate must have experience in day-to-day operations of running a full size kitchen serving over 600 meals a day with the ability to maintain a safe, secure, clean and attractive environment.

Candidate must have high school diploma (or equivalent) or better, willingness to work with individuals with problems and commitment to Christian ethic.
The ideal candidate must have working knowledge for overseeing all daily administrative and production tasks for food services. The Food Services Director supervises and schedules kitchen staff and aids in the production of all meals.

Salary is based on experience.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

-Provide leadership and supervision to kitchen staff, trainees, and volunteers
-Ability to work in a commercial kitchen environment
-Ordering food and supplies, adhering to budget
-Ensure the safety of the kitchen staff
-Make certain all kitchen personnel adhere to strict hygiene guidelines
-Make certain kitchen environment meets or exceeds current Health Department regulations
-Maintain logs on USDA and Commodities Inventory and make it available for audit purposes
-Plan and provide supervision for special events and holidays


-Ability to report to and follow instructions given by Supervisor
-Excellent communication and organizational skills
-Ability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines
-Experience in working with vendors
-Familiarity with Windows Office
-Ability to stand for long periods, sit, bend lift and carry

Education and/or experience

-High school diploma or equivalent
-3-5 years experience in planning and preparing meal services and supervising staff in the delivery of meal services in large group setting; experience in controlling costs and inventory. Experience in controlling costs and inventory
