|Position Description:||Lead Cook|
Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County is currently hiring a compassionate dependable Lead Cook with problem solving skills to work with staff and residents. This position is long term with excellent benefits. Candidate must have experience in day-to-day operations of a full size kitchen serving over 600 meals a day with the ability to assist the Food Services Director in maintaining a safe, secure, clean and attractive environment. Candidate must have high school diploma (or equivalent) or better, willingness to work with individuals with problems and commitment to Christian ethic.
The ideal candidate must have knowledge and experience in meal planning, food preparation and food service under the direction of the Food Services Director.
This is a full time position and scheduling may require working early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidate must have the ability to be flexible
-Assist with food storage and the disposal of any spoiled food.
-Assist in planning menus for all meals served at UGM-TC.
-Supervise food preparation by kitchen staff.
-Supervise the service of meals to UGM-TC clients and guests.
-Maintain kitchen sanitation to meet or exceed current Health Department regulations
-Identify kitchen maintenance problems and report them to the Food Services Director.
-Assist the Food Services Director in providing on-going quality improvement training for those serving in the kitchen.
-Maintain good relations with the volunteers who assist in the kitchen and dining room.
-2 years of food service experience
-Ability to work in a commercial kitchen environment
-Ability to report to and follow instructions given by Supervisor
-Excellent communication, organization and supervisory skills
-Ability to plan and perform duties in logical sequence for meal preparation
-Knowledge of all applicable sanitation requirements
-Ability to work holidays or other special days on request
-Ability to stand for long periods; ability to sit, stand, bend, lift and carry
