Urban Outfitters is seeking an innovative, quality focused chef for its newest Cafe concept located within our flagship Herald Square location. This is an exciting opportunity with huge growth potential within an international company.
This position is a hands-on role requiring an individual with a passion for great local food.
The Chef/Manager will be responsible for the overall operations for the back and front of house and kitchen areas of the Cafe.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Manage a 24/7 kitchen staff to ensure all of the food is properly prepared to the standards set by the company ensuring quality and consistency.
-Stays current with food trends and is able to create seasonal menus.
-Supervises the cleanliness, orderliness, and maintenance of the kitchen ensuring that sanitation standards are met in accordance with restaurant policy and local requirements.
-Maintains a safe work place for kitchen employees.
-Orders inventory as well as makes sure that the proper levels of inventory are maintained and stocked.
-Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and delegates responsibility to the staff which ensures the goals and objectives, of the kitchen, are met on a daily basis
-Increases staffs effectiveness through training, coaching and counseling by clearly communicating values, strategies, and objectives; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
-Creates a team environment
-Effectively manages business as an entrepreneur within the policies and guidelines of the company, ensuring 100% customer satisfaction at all times
-3-5 years of management experience in the restaurant industry
-Exceptional interpersonal skills and decision making ability
-The ability to lead, supervise, and train kitchen staff
-Willingness and availability to work a flexible schedule
-Hands on approach to training and development
-Microsoft Office, Excel
