Nantucket Island- Sous Chef
An opportunity for this position does not come along very often. The Seagrille is looking for a sous chef to join our award winning team, a position that has not been filled out of house for nearly 15 years. This position can be seasonal (May-October) or year round.
The Seagrille is a very popular Island restaurant with a huge following. It is known for its creative and traditional, seasonally influenced local fish and seafood for over 20 years. Also, it is known as a mainstay in its involvement in the community. This is a position for someone with line experience and a culinary background looking to make the next step in their culinary career. The candidate will work directly with the Executive Chef/Owner and the Chef de Cuisine.
The Sous Chef will assist with the daily operations of the kitchen, providing leadership and direction to kitchen personnel while ensuring that all food preparations and presentations meet specifications. The Sous Chef also helps maintain a safe, orderly and sanitized kitchen and demonstrates this by example, using proper food handling techniques.
Also, responsible to run the production line on the Chef's night off, be involved with ordering, receiving, menu development, specials, and supervising a kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, and possess a strong work ethic. A minimum of 3 years line experience and a culinary degree is desirable, as well as strong communication and management skills. The work week consists of 55-60 hours reporting directly to the Chef/Owner and/or Chef de Cuisine.
