We are currently hiring one talented and experienced cook to join our team as a lead line cook. We have an excellent Chef / Sous Chef team and solid line cooks but are lacking one more person that can take the lead on a shift, organizing the prep list by priority, leading the younger cooks through proper station setup, crushing the rush, and leading the team through a proper and efficient close.
You should have a minimum of 3 years in BOH experience including time in both high volume kitchens and fine dinning or kitchens run by chefs that care. We are not fine dining but we use many of the same ingredients and techniques that are used in the best kitchens, and we hold ourselves to the same standards. We are a leader in our market and a nationally recognized restaurant, so you will be working with a group that has distinguished itself but remains humble, and your job will be to help grow and preserve our reputation.
In terms of personality and what you are looking to get out of a job - we are seeking an individual who treats the culinary arts as a career. This position should be the next step for you in your progression, and you should plan to keep this job for 18-24 months. This position will prepare you to take a sous chef position in that timeframe, whether that is with us as we expand, or in another establishment.
Coming in, you should own professional work attire and have your own knives. You should be aware of the fundamental expectations of professional chefs and restaurant owners for cleanliness and focus on the position.
You should also have strong working knowledge of fundamental cooking techniques such as braising, poaching, saute, basic sauces and stocks, and knife work.
We can offer 30 or more hours a week and would consider either an hourly or salary position, depending on your availability and on the skill and attitude you display over the first 2-4 weeks of working together.
Your shifts would consist of both day and evening shifts which can run very late into the night. We also have an active catering side to our business and you would be expected to help prep and execute those events.
