|Position Description:||Shane Confectionery, recently restored, is America?s oldest continuously run confectionery. The new business is seeking the Head Confectioner to lead and manage our kitchen production and candy makers. A special interest in historically accurate 19th century confectionery & methods along with locally grown and sustainable values is our ideal.|
Production of all house-made confections, chocolates, hard candies and holiday specialties.
Research, improve, and standardize recipes and procedures for house-made confections.
Regular inventory and daily quality check of stored chocolates, assortments, and candy. Full 12 month understanding of par levels from which to set production goals.
Consistent communications and meetings with Shane Store Management and Owners about brand development, new products, and making methodology.
Cost accounting for retail and wholesale trade requests.
Performing on and off-site product demonstrations for marketing purposes.
Manage and train all confectionery assistants (up to 5) for daily production duties.
Administrative paperwork including weekly production lists, updating/creating recipes, staff scheduling, basic wholesale, marketing, and promotional correspondence.
Applicants should have the following personal qualities:
Creative in confectionery with precision and attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and manage others
Strong verbal communication skills
Organized problem solver willing to improve and build systems
Excellent time management skills
Professional and positive attitude!
Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
