StarChefs.com is accepting applications for 2012 marketing intern. Since a large part of this internship is focused on the International Chefs Congress, it would be preferable if you are available through early October.
Interning with us will provide you substantive and challenging work experiences. You will have the opportunity to develop specific skills (i.e. research, writing, computer, presentation skills, culinary knowledge). A large part of this internship will focus on our upcoming Rising Stars Galas, working with sponsors, promoting the event, partnering with professional organizations.
You will also be working on specific sponsor campaigns which includes creating online banner campaigns, advertorials, surveys and contests and monthly reporting. We hope that by the end of your internship you will be better able to set realistic goals for projects, manage your time better, understand online advertising and have a formal portfolio of your work that you can show future employers as evidence of your work and accomplishments.
Because we are a small company (25 employees), you have the opportunity to really make an impact on the company and the service we provide. Internships are for 3-6 months and are not paid. Internships can be eligible for college credit and you will receive a letter of recommendation. Last year, StarChefs hired on 3 of its interns for full-time employment.
In order to benefit from an internship with us you will need to be a self-starter capable of doing largely unsupervised work from your own computer. Necessary computer skills include web searches, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access), and Filemaker experience is a plus. Depending on the position you take you will need strong writing and research skills, strong interpersonal skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a drive for results.

The real deal is that you'll get a lot of responsibility, and you'll do a lot. This is not a photocopy internship. This is an internship where, for a few months, you will really do the marketing for StarChefs. You'll have a lot of say-so, and that's what they want.
They love grad students, studying something somewhat related (I am a student at Cornell's Hotel School, other interns went to Georgetown, HBS and MIT), willing to take responsibility, willing to speak their mind, and with a love and knowledge of writing, the internet, food, restaurants, and chefs.
