Research and Development Manager

We are seeking a Research and Development Manager with unwavering commitment to innovation and quality.

We are Sweet Street and we harness pure imagination to create the greatest desserts you have ever tasted. The candidate will collaborate with our dynamic R&D team, to develop new product lines, extensions of product lines and a vast array of innovations in different forms.

Every dessert we create is the outcome of tireless exploration and obsessive perfectionism. It is imperative that all members of our R&D staff are committed and passionate, innovative and confident and take pride in knowing that these artful creations are shared by people in 54 countries around the globe.

Each of our R&D Chefs are true mavericks. They each must have extensive experience, highly developed skills and the ability to independently and collaboratively develop ideas, create formulas, define processes and then implement and fine tune the product for roll-out on the production floor.

While not undemanding and requiring responsibility to be available for off-shift roll-outs, our working schedule is primarily focused on weekdays . This is an opportunity to eliminate the steady evening and weekend schedule requirements of the restaurant world.

Provide R&D support to new product implementation plans, new product releases, continuous improvement projects and existing formula redesigns.
Develop ideas, formulas and process; implement and follow-up to fine-tune.
Create and maintain SOP manuals including formulas, specifications and historical data.

Effectively develop and maintain relationships with internal departments and with customers to assure effective support, requests for information, and problem resolution.

This job description covers seven general areas: Product development, Specification development, Product rollout, Ongoing Product Improvement, Foodshow/Broker/Customer presentations, Chain Account Product development and Team Contribution.


Culinary degree and 4-6 years experience in preparation of upscale pastries, desserts, savories and breads.
Knowledge of natural and gluten free preparation.
Experience in manufacturing or adaptable to production environment.
Combination of creativity and logistical/technical aspects.
Team player with ability to lead as well as follow.
Able to effectively interact and communicate within all levels of company and with customers.
Disciplined toward long range objectives.
Precise documentation skills.
Ability to teach and instruct bakery personnel on new products/product changes.
Flexibility in work hours to meet departmental requirements and support three shift operation.
