|Position Description:||Oceana, a Michelin-starred restaurant celebrating global seafood and desserts in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, has an opening for Executive Pastry Chef. Join Executive Chef Ben Pollinger in a positive work environment in a spacious, modern kitchen.|
This position requires an advanced knowledge of classic and contemporary dessert techniques. The pastry kitchen at Oceana produces all desserts and bread in-house. Candidates will also need to have the ability to occasionally prepare and decorate cakes.
Candidates may be established Pastry Chefs or experienced Pastry Sous Chefs ready to make the next step and will have at least three to five years management experience in a fine dining restaurant in New York City or another nationally recognized establishment. Culinary or college degree is a plus but not required. Computer literacy is a plus.
Candidates will be excited to create seasonal desserts, have excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage the food and labor expenses of the department. This position will require a combination of production and plating. Other responsibilities include ordering of foodstuffs and supplies.
Attention to detail and finesse and a strong commitment to kitchen organization, cleanliness and order are paramount.
