Duties and Responsibilities:
The Sous Chef is responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen, and provides professional leadership and direction to all kitchen personnel. This position is responsible for relaying important information about the day's service to line staff as they arrive for example menu changes, station assignments and private events.
The Sous Chef is responsible for daily and weekly product ordering and for maintaining clean and organized walk-ins & dry storage areas. The Sous Chef will ensure that all recipes, food preparation, and presentation meet restaurant's specifications and commitment to quality. This position will help to maintain a safe, orderly and sanitized kitchen. Will manage staffing levels, hire and train employees to company's standards.
-Culinary training and cooking experience with demonstrated supervisory experience in the culinary field
-Understanding of proper use and maintenance of major kitchen equipment, including stoves, refrigeration units, knives, slicers and dish machines
-Awareness of local, state and federal sanitation laws
-Must have strong communication skills; must be able to speak, read, and understand English
-Must work well under pressure and have demonstrated ability to actively supervise, motivate and discipline employees
-Must have ability to work flexible hours (nights, weekends and holidays)
