The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast is an extraordinary destination located in Southern California with expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. With Palladian-inspired architecture from Northern Italy, The Resort offers 204 Bungalow guest rooms and 128 Villas that give guests the feeling of a home away from home, along with world-class restaurants in classic al fresco settings, a luxurious spa and 36 holes of golf designed by Tom Fazio. The Banquet Chef manages all aspects of the Banquet kitchen, including directing and overseeing the culinary staff, food preparation and costs for food and labor. Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling and supervising all Banquet kitchen staff. Extensive knowledge of cooking and food preparation for all types of banquets and special events. Experience developing employee training programs. Skilled in development of employee motivational programs, performance evaluations and discipline. Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills. Ability to use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide employees toward goal achievement. Strong analytical, organizational, management and computer skills. Ensure all health laws and regulations are adhered to and employees have current health and safety related certifications.
-Successful track record of Banquet experience in a highly rated fine Hotel, Resort, Golf resort or similar environment.
-Thorough knowledge of all health and labor regulations related to restaurant operation.
-Extensive knowledge of cooking and food preparation for banquet functions.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to work in a team environment and motivate others.
-Degree in Culinary or Hospitality Management.
-Must have current California Food Handler Card or willingness and ability to obtain California Food Handling Card before first day of employment.
