Position Description:
The Culinary Arts Faculty Member shall provide instruction and advisement to students. This faculty member will be responsible for teaching a variety of culinary courses including but not limited to culinary fundamentals, international and American regional cuisines, and garde manger. This faculty member will also be responsible for assessment, course development, collaboration across disciplines, departmental duties and institutional duties as assigned.
Culinary Arts faculty members are expected to continue professional development and maintain membership and certification at the Certified Executive Chef level with the American Culinary Federation and attain Certified Hospitality Educator certification through the American Hotel and Lodging Association within one year of appointment.
This is a 10-month position that reports directly to the Director of The Culinary Arts Institute and Divisional Dean.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelor of Culinary Arts and Master Degree in related field (Hospitality, Business, Education, etc.)
-Minimum five years of Culinary Arts industry experience required with a minimum of three years in a Chef de Cuisine, Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef or equivalent capacity.
-Minimum one year of prior hands-on Culinary Arts teaching experience at college level.
-Current membership with the American Culinary Federation (ACF).
-Current ServSafe certification.
-ACF certification as a Certified Executive Chef.
-Expertise in a variety of culinary topics including culinary fundamentals, garde manger, international cuisines, and American regional cuisines.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Certified Hospitality Educator certification with The American Hotel and Lodging Association, if certification not held at time of hire, candidate must attain certification within one-year of hire date to be supported through faculty development.
-Certified Culinary Educator certification with the ACF.
-Experience coaching ACF student Hot Food and/or Knowledge Bowl teams.
