As a Prepared Foods Department Manager you will lead a team with your creativity, passion for the product, and quality driven leadership style. The Prepared Foods Department Manager reports to the Store Team Leader (Store Manager) and is guided by the Regional Prepared Foods Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
-In conjunction with the Store Leadership you will be responsible for Team Member hiring, development, terminations and generally holding your team accountable for their work.
-Responsible for profitability, expense control (packaging and labor), inventory control, buying and merchandising, regulatory compliance, recipe development and special projects as assigned.
-Complete accountability for all aspects of team operations and perform all duties and responsibilities of team positions.
-Lead, not manage your team.
-You will be encouraged to run the Prepared Foods Department as if it was your own business (within certain guidelines of course).
-Ensure that all National and Regional policies and procedures specific to the team are being followed and executed properly.
-This is a position that will prepare you for Store or Regional Leadership within Whole Foods Market.
Qualifications:
-Demonstrated two or more years of experience directing a team of five or more people.
-Experience in kitchen management as well as recipe development.
-Instruct and train new and existing Prepared Foods Department Team Members.
-Stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 4 hours without a break.
-Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders.
-Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 67 pounds unassisted.
-Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds unassisted.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Strong organizational skills.
-Previous experience as a Team Leader, Assistant Team Leader, or equivalent.
-Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends and evenings.
-Able to lead and motivate a diverse group of Team Members.
