Job Summary:
We have an exciting and rare opportunity for the right candidate to join our chef team. We need a strong Sous Chef who is exceptionally passionate about food and wine to support our Executive Chef in developing and executing the dining program, including special events for parties of 20-120 guests.
We're looking for someone with a culinary degree and fine dining experience. The right candidate will be a fast learner and will ensure all recipes, food preparations and presentations meet the restaurant's specifications and commitment to quality. We frequently receive 5 star ratings and rave reviews from our guests. We need someone who will work hard to exceed expectations. This position requires an intimate knowledge of fine dining, creativity, and a love for fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
We are lucky to be able to source the majority of our produce locally, some from our own garden, and we're looking for a candidate who is passionate about working in a farm to table restaurant. The position will require frequent visits to farmers markets, local farms, and you should be excited about using produce picked from our own garden as well. Our Executive Chef chooses farmers carefully, selecting those who share his passion for food.
The ideal candidate will have a proven and successful track record working as a Sous Chef, and will be capable of executing the menu to our quality standards on his or her own on the Executive Chef's days off. We expect this position to take some control over the lunch menu once skills are proven. If you do not have an interest in being involved in the menu setting and food sourcing process for a fine dining, farm to table restaurant, please do not apply.
The interview process will require several interviews both by phone and in person, cooking demos and the submission of sample menus. Though we would like to hire immediately, we are waiting for the right candidate to come along. Qualifications:
Knowledge:
