Position Description:
As one of our senior Chefs at Globe (Veranda Beach Resort www.verandabeach.com in far north Washington state, approx 4 hours north east of Seattle) you will be responsible, along with the owners, for menu planning, purchasing, food preparation, running the line, health & sanitation, recruiting and team management. The position demands creativity on a daily basis, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain the highest of culinary standards. There is also ample opportunity to showcase your talent for special events, including wine pairing dinners, golf receptions, corporate lunches etc on a regular basis throughout the summer. The post is available from May to October and would suit a young aspiring Executive Chef seeking your first position with a degree of autonomy & responsibility and an oppportunity to make connections and make your mark.
Applicants should be able to work well under pressure, be organized, flexible, self-motivated, willing to work irregular hours, and have a great sense of humor as we have a very happy team! Other pluses include, a positive attitude, well groomed, and an outgoing but laid back personality.
An enjoyment of the outdoors would allow you to take full advantage of this beautiful area of endless recreational activity, right on the lake and close to the Canadian border with the bountiful wineries and produce of the Okanagan Valley. Veranda Beach Resort is a summer cottage resort for owners and holiday makers, set on 1000 acres of natural beauty with 20 acres of vineyards already planted and an 18 hole golf course in the works.
Requirements include a minimum of 5 years full-service, high quality restaurant experience. Culinary degree or equivalent experience is also preferred. Longer term opportunities with Globe in Ski Resorts in Canada also exisit after this contract is completed.
