We are searching for a passionate, creative and hands on candidate for a Pastry Chef position. The Pastry Chef directs daily kitchen operations and provides professional leadership and input to kitchen staff. They are responsible for menu planning and execution, ordering, cost control, supervision, payroll, as well as training.
As a restaurant that holds high the values of sustainability, seasonality and environmental stewardship, the position demands an appreciation for and commit to working with small farms, ranches, fisheries and creameries to source the best available product. FIG is located on iconic Wilshire Blvd just across from the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica's North Bay District.
Chef Ray Garcia gathers much of his inspiration for the restaurant's ever changing menu from the renowned Santa Monica Farmers' Market located just blocks away. He also works closely with foragers who travel up and down the coast in search of the finest of the season. The techniques used to prepare FIG's signature dishes are simple and straightforward, focusing on the ingredient's pure flavors.
