Director, Food & Nutrition Services

Position Description:Director - Food and Nutrition Services

Oversees the planning, execution and control of day to day operations and the short term and long term planning and development of all Food and Nutritional Services. Ensures quality care through optimal contribution by the Food and Nutritional Services Department.

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Support Services and within established Elliot Hospital and department policies and procedures, the incumbent performs the following functions: Establishes and monitors departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with JCAHO, state, federal and other applicable regulations.

Reviews and revises policies and procedures to provide proper functioning of the department. Develops short and long range plans and programs for Food and Nutritional Services that are consistent with departmental and organizational policies. Develops and implements departmental goals and objectives and monitors compliance through objective criteria. Implements Total Quality Management methods to staff production standards. Facilitates employee communication interactions intra-and interdepartmentally. Works directly with administration, physicians and hospital staff to offer maximum utilization of food and nutritional services through its service and clinical programs. Works to optimize Food and Nutritional Services' role in meeting or exceeding the needs and expectations of the patient/customer. Bachelor's Degree in Food Service Management or related area required.

Master of Business Administration or Service Management preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a hospital setting in a management role of similar size. Experience should include short and long range, as well as strategic planning, financial and operations management. Relocation is not available for this position.
