|Position Description:||The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE), New York City's largest and most active center for culinary education, is seeking a VISITING (Adjunct) CAREER CULINARY CHEF INSTRUCTOR, for primarily nights and weekends. |
If you are a gifted chef with a deep desire to share your skills, we would like to meet you. ICE is looking for part-time Chef-Instructors who are passionate about their craft and have wide culinary knowledge. You'll be working in a collegial environment with a deep commitment to excellence in all areas of the culinary arts.
In addition to teaching complete units in the Culinary Career Programs, there will also be a need for teaching as a substitute when the regularly assigned Instructor is not present. Upon hire, the Chef may have opportunities to teach Recreational classes based on qualifications and experience.
-Leads hands-on culinary classes in conformity with ICE lesson plans.
-Conducts in classroom demonstrations as required by the curriculum.
-Demonstrates techniques and concepts as required by the curriculum.
-Delivers clear, concise and organized lectures as required by the curriculum.
-Assesses student performance through observation and interaction, along with written and practical examinations.
-Maintains a positive, focused learning environment during class.
-Assures that classes are conducted in a manner that complies with principles of food safety and sanitation.
-Maintains accurate records of student attendance and performance.
-Attends meetings and faculty orientation as required.
-Culinary diploma and or some form of formal Culinary Education.
-A minimum of 7 years culinary experience.
-Flexible Schedule (WEEKENDS AND EVENINGS) to accommodate ICE class schedules.
-Evening hours- 6-10pm (Sunday-Friday range).
-Weekend hours- 9am-5pm (both Saturday & Sunday).
-Hybrid hours- 2 evenings a week (6-10pm) and 1 weekend day (9am-5pm).
-The candidate's ability to teach both evening and weekend hours is crucial, since the hybrid classes have been very difficult to fill. This would be for immediate hire and training for the right person.
-Fine Dining and previous teaching experience preferred.
-Excellent verbal communications skills.
-$156 per class; half pay when trailing.
-Annual class rate salary increases as mandated by Collective Bargaining Agreement
