Position Description:THE RESORT - Dunton Hot Springs is a one-of-a-kind gem in every sense and has been the recipient of many prestigious awards. It is located in the picturesque upper valley of the West Fork of the Dolores River about 1 hour from Telluride, 1 hour from Cortez and an hour and a half from Durango. The resort is comprised of 12 carefully restored authentic mining cabins dating back to the 1880's, all centered around the original Saloon that serves as the restaurant, bar and general hub of activity for the guests.

Dunton is a private home for the owners at certain times of the year and for the remainder of the year it is open to the public as a resort. The understanding of these dual roles is critical.

The cuisine at Dunton is a focal point of the guests' experience and is Farm-To-Table, market and ingredient driven similar to traditional Italian food in style. Guests take their meals together around a large antique table in the Saloon, and meals are served family style. This is very often cited by guests as the most memorable aspect of their stay. On a typical day anywhere from 10 to 30 guests stay at Dunton although sometimes this number can go as high as 50 or be as low as 2. Interaction between the guests happens naturally and enriches their experience. Long lasting friendships between guests are often originated at Dunton.
The food and beverage experience is all encompassing as we also have a vineyard an hour away in Cortez, called Sutcliffe Vineyards (www.sutcliffewines.com). Job Requirements: The Executive Chef will be expected to use great produce and source ingredients from local farms, all while offering guests a simplistic yet vibrant cuisine. This is a very hands on position, and due to size consists of a very small team. The Executive Chef must take ownership of the kitchen.

Given our open kitchen, and that the cuisine is such a focal point of the resort, this position has strong guest contact, and the Executive Chef must be guest focused.

The Executive Chef will need to be excited by food and wine, and excited by the prospect of creating new dishes and menus daily based on guests in house.

Must possess exceptional "full rounded" experience.

Create a positive work environment by maintaining the highest level of ethics and integrity.

Have experience in Farm-To-Table cuisine, and ideally Personal chef experience

Must be a "people person", and front of house Executive Chef

Previous remote location experience helpful, but not mandatory.

Must possess strong interpersonal and team interaction skills with the ability to effectively relate to all levels of employees.

Must be a team player who enjoys a challenge.

Strong leadership skills required

Strong financial and inventory management skills with exceptional experience in managing food & beverage costs.

Must be creative; however willing to work with existing core resort philosophy and style.

Property location makes it important that applicant be in good physical shape.
