New small, intimate izakaya-style restaurant seeks chef de cuisine trained in traditional japanese cooking with a working knowledge of european food. You will direct daily kitchen operations and provide professional leadership and input to your supporting staff, a sous/pastry chef & kitchen assistant. You are responsible for ordering, cost control, training, as well as weekly menu planning and execution. as we are employing a seasonal & sustainable ethic, the position demands ability (& ideally experience) to liase with local suppliers & source quality produce.
You will primarily be working solo at a counter kitchen front-of-house, so should be an energetic, amicable, and creative host as well as having the discipline to stay calm and productive in stressful situations. Strong organizational skills are a must.
