The Old Fashioned Restaurant and Tavern was created to celebrate the culinary treasures of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is steeped in a rich culinary history influenced by it?s first European settlers, Germans, Italians, French and Scandinavians. Along with a strong influence of their cuisine, the German?s brought along their love and craft for beer making which is a dominant feature in our restaurant. The Old Fashioned features over 160 Wisconsin crafted beers, 30 of these are on tap and rotate frequently.
The Old Fashioned?s menu is a tribute to these original settlers, and to the Wisconsin?s dairy industries artisans. Cheese is KING on our menu featured in salads, on sandwiches, fried cheese curd and stands alone on Wisconsin artisanal cheese plates. Our menu celebrates the classics from Wisconsin?s rich Supper Club history featuring items like Lazy Susans, Friday Fish Fry and fried eggs on our House Hamburger.
In our short four year history, The Old Fashioned has already become a landmark on Madison?s downtown Capitol Square. Crowds of people will wait up to 2 hours for a table in the evening hours. This is due to our dedicated staff that takes pride in professional service and ensuring that our guests have a remarkable dining experience. But most importantly, it?s our food.
