Position Description:Southern New England based hospitality group currently seeking an experienced Director of Catering. This individual is responsible for directing the successful planning, organization and execution of all special events both on and off premise. In directing the orchestration of these events, this person will customize and execute each function based on the individual needs of the guest to create a world-class dining experience.

The successful candidate will have exceptional operational skills, and extraordinary abilities in time management, organization, logistics and follow-through. In addition, they will possess a demonstrated hands-on experience and team-building prowess as a leader. This position requires a high degree of multi-tasking.

Responsibilities:

-Hiring, training, and disciplining catering staff as well as writing schedules and providing on-going development regarding service techniques, policies, and procedures
-Menu development & costing and marketing functions as they relate to the catering department
-Ensuring successful operations of catering functions by exercising control over labor cost, food cost control and preparation, transportation, setup, operation, and clean up of all events
-Overseeing all fiscal responsibilities including invoice entry, inventory, and daily and weekly financial reconciliation.
-Interacting with clients to determine needs and direct staff according.
-Providing timely and efficient responses to telephone and walk-in inquiries of potential guests.
-Creating customized menus and catering dicor for each event.

Position Requirements:

-Enthusiastic, energetic, guest oriented personality
-Strong willingness to work long hours, nights and weekends with short notice. Must be able to stand for long periods of time as well as travel locally.
Comprehensive knowledge of world-class, multi-cultural cuisine and wine.
-Be computer savvy. Experience with catering software preferred.
-Three to four years industry and management experience as well as the ability to manage in a diverse environment with a focus on guest satisfaction.
-Executive dining and/or cafeteria experience preferred.
-Serv-safe certification preferred but not required.

This is a senior management position. The ideal individual will know how to effectively communicate with employees of all levels and abilities.
