Nationally recognized, high-volume French-Creole inspired restaurant in Portland, Oregon, seeks a dynamic and experienced Chef / Executive Chef to lead its talented kitchen team.
This key position (with the assistance of a Sous Chef) is responsible for all aspects of menu planning, costing and testing, food preparation and research, kitchen standards & sanitation, as well as vendor relationships and kitchen employee supervision. The position requires creativity on a daily basis, excellent communication skills and time management, previous experience in Profit & Loss reporting, and the ability to maintain and inspire the highest of culinary standards.
Applicants should have previously worked in New Orleans or Louisiana, a similarly inspired French-Creole restaurant-- or have strong working knowledge of the cuisine (and traditional French culinary background). In addition, a strong working knowledge of wine and spirits is preferred.
Ideal applicants must also work well under pressure, be organized, flexible, self-motivated, willing to work long hours (and have longevity to do so), and have a great sense of humor. Supervisory experience would be beneficial as well.
Requirements include a minimum of 7 years full-service, high quality restaurant experience, with at least two years as Chef. A culinary degree or equivalent experience is also preferred, as well as strong personal & professional references.
