Position Description:
The Waldorf=Astoria is currently recruiting for the position of Tournant in our Banquet and Restaurant kitchens. This is an excellent opportunity to begin your culinary career by becoming part of our Five Star Team at the Waldorf=Astoria!
Qualified candidates prepares hot or cold food items in accordance with recipes and standards while maintaining a neat and sanitary work environment in a safe, accident free manner.
Prepare all food items according to recipes and correct handling procedures.
Maintain the highest quality and appearance of all foods sent from kitchen and make sure plates/buffet presentations are clean and appetizing.
Maintain proper pars of production and mise en place. Label and date all foods.
Solely responsible for maintaining clean work station. Make sure all work areas are properly cleaned at end of shift and at end of evening.
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
Perform various cooks duties as assigned by supervisor or manager. Ability to put out parties without supervision
Must have a minimum of 1-2 years experience as a Tournant in a 3-star operation. Applicants should have a 2 year degree in Culinary AOS.
