The Restaurant Assistant Manager will support the Barking Frog/Fireside Cellars GM in overseeing and maintaining the operations of the Barking Frog Restaurant/ Fireside Cellars, Willows Lodge mini-bar and room service. To ensure that Willows Lodge Preferred standards are adhered to at all times, guest satisfaction is exceeded, sales are maximized and that departmental budgetary goals are met by controlling expenses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ensure regular staff training takes place and maintain trained staff levels.
Manage restaurant staff and work closely with them to ensure that Preferred Standards are met.
Assist Barking Frog/ Fireside Cellars GM in the promotion and training of front of house (FOH) staff in the proper Preferred Standards, procedures, suggestive selling and side work duties.
Maintain the manager log communicating shift activities, personnel issues, back of house (BOH) issues and any other issues pertinent to the shifts activities.
Handle all guest requests/ complaints/ issues and suggestions with professionalism, sincerity, knowledge and expediency.
Ensure that payroll is completed for all FOH staff in a timely manner while communicating with the Restaurant General Manager.
Conduct pre-service briefings. Check opening/ closing side work duties.
Ensure that staff is ready to work in appropriate uniforms that adhere to the strict appearance standards.
Possess full product knowledge of hotel services/facilities; including all menu items and wines in order to maximize guest satisfaction and sales opportunities with each guest contact.
Maintain a high standard of service at all times as outlined by the Willows Lodge Employee Handbook and the Preferred Standards Guidebook.
Maintain hygiene, safety and fire standards within the work area in adherence with safety regulations and property policy in order to ensure the health of guest and colleagues alike.
Be present in the Barking Frog on the floor during service to provide support to staff as well as monitoring and ensuring maximum guest satisfaction.
Attend weekly departmental meeting and other meetings as required.
Other duties as assigned by Willows Lodge Management and/ or Barking Frog and Fireside Cellars General Manager.
